Walruses play a crucial role in Arctic ecosystems by controlling the populations of their prey, such as clams, snails, and other benthic invertebrates. Their feeding habits also disturb the seafloor, which helps recycle nutrients and supports a diverse range of marine life.

Fun fact: Walruses have whiskers called vibrissae that are incredibly sensitive, helping them find clams and other food on the ocean floor, even in the dark!
